Every year, on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, over 15,000 luminarias (lanterns made with paper sacks, sand, and candles) are lit by volunteers in honor of each soldier buried in the National Cemetery at 1013 Lafayette Boulevard, in Fredericksburg, VA. This is part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, and rangers lead a program to honor those soldiers who died in service to this country. The Luminaria Committee oversees the placement of the luminarias and assists the park with their annual program.  FOWB handles the funds for the Luminaria Committee.
