FoWB is an all-volunteer organization whose mission and privilege is to support the National Park Service in stewardship efforts for the Wilderness Battlefield and adjacent parks. We are a very hands on and activity oriented group.
We could use your time and talent and we promise it will be rewarding,
enlightening and a memorable experience.
Some of the areas where volunteers can contribute their time and talent are as follows:
At Ellwood:

The Ground Force maintains the grounds surrounding Ellwood Manor. They typically get together Thursday mornings to cut grass and spruce up the grounds. The schedule varies based on the seasons.

Ellwood Interpreters conduct tours of the first floor of Ellwood Manor. Guides may also volunteer to conduct walking tours of the Ellwood grounds and Wilderness Crossing Trail.
On the Battlefield:

Hundreds of volunteers are needed each spring for the annual National Park Day event! We also sponsor smaller cleanup events throughout the year. Join our mailing list to be notified about the events and/or contact us at battlefield@fowb.org.

FoWB occasionally recruits volunteers for special projects like clearing new walking trails. Join our mailing list to be notified about the events and/or contact us at battlefield@fowb.org.
Other:

FoWB periodically provides volunteer resources for the Park Service and other organizations for special events. Volunteers are routinely needed for parking cars, event check-in, crowd control, etc. Join our mailing list to be notified about special event volunteer needs. Contact communications@fowb.org for more information.

Do you enjoy visiting with the public? We set up information booths at street festivals, community events and Ellwood. Part time volunteers are always needed to share their interests in the Wilderness Battlefield, Ellwood and FoWB activities. Contact communications@fowb.org for more information.

Looking for a fun outing for your scouts, church, school or club? Contact us about volunteering at one of our battlefield projects. It’s a great team building opportunity and ‘gets the kids out of the house’! Contact communications@fowb.org for more information.
