Civil War Canoe Trip – June 22
We would like to offer you the opportunity to be one of the participants in the third annual Friends of Wilderness Battlefield Civil War Canoe Trip. On Saturday, June 22, 2019, National Park Service Historian Greg Mertz will lead a day long canoe tour of Civil War sites along the Rapidan River. Greg’s narration will bring to life such notables as Stonewall Jackson, George Custer, and J.E.B. Stuart. The trip will afford you the opportunity to visit the historic sites on the river, many that are not accessible by land.
May 19 – We are sorry … The canoe trip is now sold out
This will be a long day of the water. Bring a lunch, your cooler, sunscreen, wipes, meds and anything else you think you might need. We will depart Ely’s Ford at 8:30 AM, be transported to Germanna, and float back to Ely’s ford, arriving about 3:00 PM. The group is limited to 15 canoes or 29 participants, plus Greg.
This is a fund raising effort for FoWB and the cost of the day is $50.00 per person, with half of that going for your canoe rental and FoWB receiving the other half. If you wish to be paired with a particular person, please note that on the comments section of the registration form when you sign up.
