Volunteer

At Friends of Wilderness Battlefield, there are volunteer opportunities to fit many interests.

Ellwood Interpreter: Join the group of volunteers who interpret for visitors the history of Ellwood. Training sessions are conducted in the early spring. Click here for more information or email us by clicking ellwood@fowb.org and using category 'Ellwood Volunteers'.

Battlefield Preservation:  FoWB members donate much of the labor for the ongoing upkeep of the battlefield, including painting, maintaining bridges and trails, picking up litter, mowing and clearing. FoWB coordinates the Wilderness Battlefield participation in the annual Park Day sponsored every April by the Civil War Preservation Trust. Click here for more information or email us by clicking battlefield@fowb.org and using category 'Battlefield Volunteers'.

Ellwood Ground Force:  One day a week during the year, a dedicated group of workers meets at Ellwood to mow, trim, rake and clear the Ellwood grounds, as well as maintain fences and exterior buildings. Email us by clicking ellwood@fowb.org and using category 'Ellwood Volunteers' if you are interested.

Rain or shine, hot or cold, the Ground Force keeps the Ellwood environs in pristine condition year-round.

Special Events: For those volunteers who cannot commit to a regular schedule, help is needed for events such as Park Day, the Anniversary of the Battle of the Wilderness, Taming the Wilderness, and holidays. So look for those postings, we would love to have you!
