FoWB wants you to know that the bulk of our success is based on volunteer efforts and we are always LOOKING for VOLUNTEERS.
Some of the areas where volunteers can contribute their time and talent are as follows:
The Ground Force maintains the grounds surrounding Ellwood Manor. They typically get together Thursday mornings to cut grass and spruce up the grounds. The schedule varies based on the seasons.
Interpreters act as historic guides for the house. Training for new and returning interpreters is conducted in the early spring.

On the Battlefield:
Hundreds of volunteers are needed each spring for the annual National Park Day event! We also sponsor smaller cleanup events throughout the year. Join our mailing list to be notified about the events.
FoWB occasionally recruits volunteers for special projects like clearing new walking trails.
FoWB periodically provides volunteer resources for the Park Service and other organizations for special events. Volunteers are routinely needed for parking cars, event check-in, crowd control, etc
Do you enjoy visiting with the public? We set up information booths at street festivals, community events and Ellwood. Part time volunteers are always needed to share their interests in the Wilderness Battlefield, Ellwood and FoWB activities/
Looking for a fun outing for your scouts, church, school or club? Contact us about volunteering at one of our battlefield projects. It’s a great team building opportunity and ‘gets the kids out of the house’!
