FoWB Sponsors Summer Intern
FoWB is pleased to announce that we are once again sponsoring a summer intern for the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park! Danielle “Dani” Powers will be spending about half of her time this summer assisting FoWB to enhance our interpreter training materials. Welcome Dani!
Dani is from Dinwiddie, Virginia, graduating as the salutatorian of her high school class. She volunteered at Petersburg National Battlefield, serving on their artillery crews, as well as participating in other reenactment and living history activities. She is an animal lover, who is an avid horseback rider, and has volunteered and worked with veterinarians.
Dani is attending Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia where she is a rising junior majoring in American History. One of her professors is Dr. Barton Myers, a former intern and seasonal employee at our park, who utilizes the actual battlefields in a class that Dani took. The class was based upon the military staff ride model, in which Dani gave presentations to the class assessing significant decision made during battles while standing right on the battlefields. She plans to either pursue her doctorate or career in the curatorial or interpretation fields.
