Heritage Programs
Benefits: Participants in one of the Heritage Programs are accorded the following benefits:
- A discount on all Friends of Wilderness Battlefield events.
- A special ribbon (Brigade or Ellwood) to wear at the Annual Dinner.
- An FoWB membership pin to be worn on the ribbon.
- Special recognition by name and ancestor at the Annual Dinner.
- A Certificate of Membership.
- An article on the member’s ancestor in the “Wilderness Dispatch,” as space permits.
- An entry in the “Descendants’ Books,” compiled and maintained at Ellwood.
- Descendant’s FoWB membership card will show their membership in Wilderness. Brigade/The Ellwood Legacy and will include the ancestor’s name.
Requirements: The application package must include:
- A check for all applicable fees.
- An appropriately completed and signed application.
- Either a GED-COM file on a CD OR a completed ancestry chart.
- A personal story of the ancestor which will be placed in the Descendants’ Books on permanent display at Ellwood.
Fees:
- There is a one-time-only enrollment fee of $75.00.
- If the descendant has more than one qualifying ancestor, others may be included for an added fee of $25.00 per ancestor.
- If the applicant is not a current FoWB member, the application package must include an FoWB membership enrollment form with a check for the desired membership level. If the participant does not renew FoWB membership, standard procedure is followed to remove them from the current membership list; however, their family history will be maintained in the Descendants’ Books.
Documentation Accepted:
- The descendant may provide a GED-COM file (Ahnentafel files cannot be accepted) outlining decendency from the qualifying ancestor. Copies of documents proving descendency do not need to be provided; however, these sources may be cited in the application. If GED-COM files cannot be provided, handwritten family data sheets are acceptable. Click here for a chart that may be used.
