Taming the Wilderness – September 26, 2010. Once a year the focus turns from Civil War heritage to the early days of Ellwood, in the late 1700s and early 1800s, as a living history program demonstrates the skills needed to survive in some of the wildest land in Virginia. Conducted at Ellwood.
Civil War Medicine Living History - Saturday, October 16. "Doctor" John Pelletier, Confederate medical doctor reenactor, will set up his surgery at Ellwood on Saturday, October 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Using authentic period medical instruments, John demonstrates how the wounded were cared for in the field and how surgeries were performed in the battlefield hospitals, and explains how some modern-day military medical systems got their start in the Civil War.
Friends of Wilderness Battlefield, Inc. Annual Meeting - Saturday, November 13, 2010. The annual business meeting of the corporation, featuring the president's report on the state of the organizaton, election of Board of Directors, published annual report and guest speakers. Complimentary lunch. Conducted at a location TBD nearby to the Wilderness National Battlefield.
